Cot bedding???

I never bothered with fancy cot sheets, a bumper or skirt for Michaela's cot as a baby. The only thing I concerned myself with was a mattress protector for those little accidents and a good grobag as soon as she was too big to be swaddled. But now that I'm discovering lots of great blogs and nursery resources, I MUST have a pretty set ready for Bubba 2. As mentioned before though, I'm on a tight budget and sheet/ cot sets cost a packet!! I fell in love with these sets from The Hip Infant the other day.

Working to a budget is a priority and will obviously allow me to spend in other areas. I'm going to follow this great post from Prudent Baby and make one (or two) of my own fitted sheets, hopefully this will encourage me to tackle making a cot skirt too.

Latest favourite nursery

How calming and peaceful does this nursery look? (Image via Ohdeedoh) I have loved the Kartell Componibili for ages now and this nursery just shows how adaptable it is. Now, off to find out the origin of the wall sticker (unless it's a mural and then I might be stuck......)

Nursery Ideas- Part 1

A WARNING- the next six months will contain a number of baby nursery posts. Here's number one!
I will be interested to re-read this post in a few months to see whether I stick to my initial thoughts about creating baby 2's nursery or whether I change my mind a hundred times (which is highly likely!) My current thoughts are to keep it quite neutral but add a few splashes of colour. We already have a lot of grey in our house; walls, carpet, tiles and some furniture and so I'd like to continue this shade through to the nursery. We will probably convert the room to a study/ craft room at a later date and I'd like to do that with a minimum of fuss. The budget is pretty conservative too, a couple of hundred dollars, so I'll try to make as much as I can and be smart with the accessories. At least we have all the furniture ready to go and in excellent condition. Here are a couple of inspirational pics......

For the splashes of colour, I love the Pantone Honeysuckle and Yellow, or Teal and White. I will narrow my choices after our next scan!

holiday activities

As you can see, I've been playing around with my blog appearance and I think I'm nearly satisfied with the new layout and aesthetics.
We have taken advantage of the slightly cooler weather and spent more time visiting parks around Perth. Michaela never wants to leave Kings Park!

After a few months in the planning and a couple of weeks spent painting, M's new 'big girl' room is almost finished. I began the cutting in just before Christmas so it's wonderful (and a huge relief!!) to have it finished. I'm now putting together a bed, putting up blinds and some pictures on the walls before the official reveal!

Being in holiday mode has meant that I have been a little slow on the sewing front. I have a couple of ideas bouncing around my head, just have to get them down on paper.

A New Year

The festive season was busy, hot and lots of fun! Michaela marvelled at every Christmas tree and lit up house over the last few weeks and fully embraced unwrapping giving gifts. It was quite special to enjoy Christmas through her eyes this year.
We spent a week at my family's beach house over new year and this was a much needed relaxing time for all three of us. Our time was spent at the beach, the park and lounging on the couch reading and sleeping.
So, what will 2011 hold for me/ us and little cloud factory? A couple of resolutions are:
  • Re-vamp my blog and include more posts with projects
  • Create some new softie designs and stock them on etsy
  • Follow through with the diy and craft projects that I add to my ever growing list
  • Give more handmade gifts
  • Work towards having a stall at the UpMarket
  • Include some exercise in my week (ahhhh!!)
My time with Michaela over the next six months is also really important as we will be welcoming another addition to the family in early July (yay!!!!!)
Best wishes for your 2011
